Paintings, puns, goddesses, and hips

Ok, getting back in the blog saddle after missing last week's posting goal. Just a quick post today of a painting I made from one of the daily Inktober drawings I did back in October

Our lonely traveler runs into the goddess on the road. Even the eye in her hand doesn't know what to say. No eye-dea.

Lot happening in the studio right now -- still working on some site updates and hope to launch a store for original artwork purchasing soon. And in my personal life -- I'm counting down the days to a much need hip replacement surgery (yeah, I'm super young for it, long story)  in mid-February. After a very painful year, I'm actually looking forward to it, but focusing on tons of studio time to keep the scary thoughts at bay. I should be home and getting used to my new hip by Valentine's Day. Maybe I should get a pink cane for the occasion?

Happy 2015!

Happy 2015 everyone! I'm working to blog more in this new year and share more of my studio process, work in progress, and inspiration. My plan is to start with posting weekly so keep an eye out! So far I've been spending the new year cleaning and rearranging my studio, updating my site, and working on a few new paintings, as well as making fudge, playing video games, resting my arthritic hip, and taking a cat with a cold to the vet (happy to report he will be just fine!)

I was excited to get a chance to do this commission for a friend at the end of 2014 -- she asked me to create something that involved her family in a fantastical setting so I put them in a fairy forest. Her family are fans of the Oakland Gnomes, so I had to add a special gnome friend discovering their tiny family in the forest. I love doing commissions -- please get in touch if you are interested in having me create something specifically for you.

New studio and back to work

Well it has been a while since I posted, because I moved! I've been busy setting up the place and studio out here in El Cerrito and am finally getting back to work. Right now I'm working on a few new projects, including setting up an Etsy shop to sell paintings and making more prints available via Society 6. More coming soon!

refreshed site and blog & some prints available!

Excited at the prospect coming back to blogging some studio tidbits here and there. If you'd like to see my previous attempts at this, my old blog can be found HERE.

I've been working on updating and tinkering with my site this week. I'm also really excited to be looking into ways to sell a few of my pieces affordably as prints online. Just experimenting with the idea at the moment -- starting first with  Society6 which makes it easy to do high quality prints made with archival inks. I only have a few pieces  available there so far, but wanted to mention it since they have a special deal going on right now that includes free shipping AND $5 off your order -- but only if you go to the site via this link. Deal expires April 13th so get on it HERE!

Other studio things -- new paintings clamoring to be drawn out and "old" lingering works finally being wrapped up. Thinking of working on an Etsy shop soon as well, and working on a somewhat secret collaboration with a friend that I'll tell more about as it develops down the line.
